Archaeological Assessments

It is not uncommon for a client to call about a job and wonder why a professional archaeologist would be required.  One way to help the client is to conduct an assessment of the area and advise them as to the probability of finding significant sites where they plan to construct.  I conduct archival research and sometimes visit the site and write an assessment report documenting my findings and recommendations.  Sometimes, the Texas Historical Commission agrees with me that a formal survey is not necessary.  Their initial decision to ask for a survey is based solely on plotting on topographic maps and their knowledge of previously recorded sites in the area.  Assessment reports prepared by BVRA are listed below.  Sadly, some report numbers were duplicated or omitted.
