Hale Center
I saw a reference to a calaboose in this town. The only information I have is the Sanborn map dated 1933 (Sheet 2) that depicts a possible concrete calaboose in city block 94 (lot 11) next to auto sales and service
Plainview
The first Sanborn map for Plainview was published by the Sanborn Company in 1910. A small one story wood iron clad jail is depicted on Sheet 5 as being in the 600 block of Main Street (city block 30; lot 5) near the corner of Main and Prairie streets. In 1914 (Sheet 6) it was gone from that location and there was a small one-story adobe jail at 515 North Eureka Street (next to City Hall) in city block 30 and between lots 10 and 11. The iron clad jail was no longer in that location in 1921 (Sheet 5) and no jail or calaboose was seen near the courthouse or on any of the other sheets for that year. Additional growth during the period from 1916 to 1921 is evident by the renaming of the streets in town. North Eureka was now West 7th Street. The 1921 Sanborn map shows a Boy Scouts Home in that location.
