Brownwood
The first available map for Brownwood was published by the Sanborn Company in 1885. The only jail in town at that time was a two-story rock county jail at 825 Pecan Street (Sheet 1). In 1888 (Sheet 2), a small one-story wood calaboose was present at 822 Pecan Street next to city hall (also a wooden structure) and the county jail was still standing. Both buildings were in city block 30B (no lot number). It was still there in 1893 (Sheet 6) but the address had been changed to 822 Pecan. In 1904, the wooden calaboose was no longer present and the rock county jail is described as an “old jail.” At that time, a new Brown County jail (also made of rock) was standing in the 100 block of North Broadway (city block 9). In 1923, the stone courthouse had been replaced by a three-story structure made of reinforced concrete.

I saw a reference to a calaboose in this town but I have no more information at this time.
