As of March 23, 2015, I have documented 51 Texas counties where calabooses are still standing.  My review of the Sanborn Company fire insurance maps revealed an additional ___counties where calabooses were present at one time.  It is possible that some of these are still standing but that has not been confirmed.  The map below illustrates the distribution of these structures in Texas.
